Meet Los Angeles Criminal Attorney Mark McBride

Mark McBride, Of Counsel to Gardner + Associates, was born to be a Los Angeles criminal attorney. Unlike many of today’s attorneys, Mark has retained the ideals he grew up with in Kansas City. Raised by liberal parents and following in the footsteps of his ancestors, Mr. McBride stands up for the little guy and has a healthy disdain for the edict of majority rules. He fearlessly represents the underdog in serious criminal matters and seeks justice for his clients, regardless of the pressure put on prosecutors to obtain a conviction.

Education

Mark McBride has an elite education, graduating from Rockhurst High School, an all-boys college preparatory school run by Jesuit priests. He then went on to attend Marquette University in Milwaukee where he excelled academically and finished the University’s Honors Program in three rather than the customary four years.

Ambitious and still maintaining the ideals from his youth, he furthered his education at Brigham Young University Law School in Provo, Utah. There, Mark served as executive editor of the Journal of Public Law as well as acquiring his first hands-on experience with criminal litigation. As a third year law student, Mr. McBride tried misdemeanor criminal cases. This experience fueled his ambition to become a successful Los Angeles criminal lawyer. In addition, and with graduation from law school fast approaching, he took a class in Criminal Trial Practice, which he excelled in. He received encouragement from the teacher, a federal judge, who told Mr. McBride that he had a gift for public speaking and was a natural in the courtroom. The instructor gave him the names of some of Utah’s best criminal lawyers, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Entrepreneurial Spirit

After graduating from BYU Law School, Mark immediately moved to Salt Lake City. Mr. McBride went full throttle on starting his own criminal defense practice. At the young age of 26, he started his own law firm with a mere $600.00 in the bank. He leased a small office in downtown Salt Lake City for $400 a month and procured 1,000 of the least expensive business cards he could find. He took on any case that came to him and built his practice. However, not wanting to be a big fish in a small sea, he longed for bigger and more exciting cases, like those involving felony sexual offenses, murder, and major narcotics trafficking. Thus, only six months after starting what was turning into a great practice in Salt Lake City, Mark moved to Los Angeles.

Los Angeles

Before being admitted to the California bar, Mr. McBride conducted research and did some writing for the top criminal defense lawyers in Los Angeles. Undaunted by the fame and fortune of Los Angeles, and despite being offered jobs at numerous, volume-based criminal law firms, he stuck to his Midwestern roots and established his own practice in Beverly Hills immediately after being admitted to the California Bar. His client list grew fast, and included all walks of life. Since becoming a California attorney, Mark has represented the rich, the poor, the underdog, the falsely accused, and celebrities. Despite having such a diverse clientele, Mark treats all his clients the same: with respect and with an eye towards obtaining amazing results.
